I can't believe my little lady is 3 and obviously she doesn't believe it either, because she insists that she's 7.

She has been so excited about having a party for the last week, every morning she'd wake up and ask, "Is it my party today?". Each time we went out she'd tell whoever we'd speak to that she was having a party!

We all had a lovely day, although it was SO incredibly hot and muggy! I think almost all of my photo's from the day everyone has rosy cheeks and beads of sweat on their brow!

I think Isla was happy with her party, she'd given Ian and I strict requirements for the day, ie, "pink balloons and streamers and deca-ations (as she calls them) and cakes with lots of sprinkles on top".

I couldn't be arsed making a pretty cake like the merry-go-round I made last year, so this year it was lots of cupcakes, with sprinkles as per Isla's instructions! Some were plain, others had little decorative butterflies :)

Isla received so many presents, she was spoiled rotten! Her favourite gifts for the day were the ladybug outfit from Nanny & Poppy, playdough from Poppy Troy and the Dora parifanalia from Lyn & Rod and Allison & Brad.

She finished the day by going to Steve & Marie's place for a swim to cool off with Ian, while I went to the Speedway with my Father-In-Law Kevin and my Dad, where Ian's cousin Robbie came 2nd in the $50,000 race!

If I ran the zoo...

For my 26th (eek!) birthday today, we went to the zoo! It was a perfect Sydney day, clear blue skies, no winter wind - just perfect. I told Ian it'd be a great idea to go because Isla would love it, but truth be told, I was hanging to go back again! And what better way to spend the day, than with the 2 people I love most in this world.

Isla had a ball, as she does wherever we go. Her favourites of the day were the seals - or sea-o's as she calls them! I have some cute footage of her saying hi to a seal, it's down below - excuse my voice though, recovering from another bout of tonsillitis!

Not a lot has changed since I was there when I was about 18, they're building new bits and pieces, so maybe next year we'll go back again - we'll see.

Seizures?

Wednesday, February 07, 2007

So we visited a new GP on Saturday, as we still haven't heard from the Neuro regarding the MRI results. The GP confirmed that it does definitely sound like blank seizures, and has given us a non-specific referral to Westmead Children's Hospital for whatever Neuro can see us the fastest so Isla can have an EEG which will measure the volts/electrical activity within her brain (or something equally as interesting) Sounds like lots of fun!

Botox Clinic has changed to the 21st of March now, although Michael isn't sure whether they'll go ahead with the injections or wait and see. She's progressing really well with the help of the AFO's so I think they may be reluctant to change anything at the moment. I'm very pleased with this attitude, the less invasive the better I say!

We had OT today, and again another comment about how "Michael wouldn't like to see you sitting like that Isla" Argh! It's either W sit or lay on the floor...take your pick! Isla was an angel for Mel today though - we did lots of activities and Mel was blown away by how well she's speaking.

I was under the impression that we were seeing the Speechie today too, but that's not for another 2 weeks. Kate will be stoked! I sat down the other night (thinking we had Speech Pathology as well as OT) and wrote out a list of all the words & phrases Isla can say = we're up to 247 :D BUT since then (Sunday) I've remembered a whole lot more that she can say so I'd estimate we're closer to 260+ :D :D I would like Kate to continually review Isla though. I'm not sure whether her vocabulary is on track/behind/advanced. I do know though, that her pronunciation is a lot better than a lot of children of similar age or slightly older which is wonderful.

We're reading a lot of stories at the moment, we read the Tale of Jemima Puddleduck, which was an Easter gift from last year from gorgeous Aunty Jess. We also read some Donald Duck book in the waiting room at the Paediatric Allied Health Unit...It's really making a difference with her, she's identifying so many different things now! I hope I'm never ever too busy to sit down and read to my little girl.

2 years old is a gorgeous age, Isla is such a wonderful companion, so happy, so free spirited - but becoming more headstrong (must be Ian's genes coming through! LOL) No's are becoming more adamant, but I think she's just testing the waters a little...time will tell...

Much love to everyone!

A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Master Coops! Hope you had a wonderful day!

51 weeks

Friday, December 30, 2005

Well, my little duck will be 1 this time next week!! I can't believe how much she's grown and each day she surprises me more and more!!

Not really much to update though, she's crawling like a champion and can go from one end of the house to the other! We play peek-a-boo and she crawls into different rooms looking for her Mummy and Daddy

Still hasn't put on much weight, seems to be stuck at 8kgs but eats like a horse. But still, she's getting longer!!

She went for her 1st swim on Xmas day and adored it loved it so much that her little jaw was chattering because it was getting cold in the water, but she kept giggling her head off...Today Nanny had to stay in the pool with her because she screamed when she tried to take her out!!

She's a real babbler now, baa is still her favourite, but also says Pa, Yum & I-yah which is her best effort at Isla - funny how she won't say Mum or Dad - Guess who runs this household

Her physio is going really well, we went from weekly visits, to fortnightly, now every three weeks. Our physio is so impressed with her progress, he, like the rest of us, is so very proud of her Isla is now pulling her self up on the furniture and is trying to stand! Although she's on her tippy-toes, she's doing it!!

Isla will be fitted for her AFO's on the day before her birthday (what a great present ) so we're not looking forward to this, but alas, it needs to be done!

Her naming day is in a week and a half, I still have nothing organised, have no idea who's coming, but hopefully it will be a good day
